According to a conversation in October 2006 with James Lloyd, partner of the Fair Deal Trading Partnership, the Ethletic shoes were produced in a factory adhering to fairtrade principles including higher than standard wages and an additional fairtrade premium. The rubber for the shoes was also separately certified as fairtrade. The shoes did not use any animal ingredients and so were also suitable for vegans. In addition, the rubber for the soles was also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
