Ethiscore's Top 20 Fairtrade products
Fairtrade Fortnight takes place 25 Feb-9 March 2008 with the call to action of 'Change Today, Choose Fairtrade'. The Fairtrade Foundation are urging supporters to hold an event to promote Fairtrade in 2008.
To mark the event, Ethiscore has put together its Top 20 Fairtrade products which highlights those Fairtrade brands that also come top of the table in other areas of social and corporate responsibility - brands which have a good environmental record, which respect human rights and prioritise animal welfare.
14 years ago you couldn't buy a Fairtrade product in Britain. Today over £300m worth of Fairtrade marked goods are sold every year, transforming the lives of over 7 million farmers, workers and their families. Fair trade products include flowers, footballs, tea, coffee and even condoms and balloons.
Fairtrade Fortnight will be launched in style with a Fairtrade Fairground in central London on Sunday 24 February. Check the website for the latest details. The Choose Fairtrade Bus, which will be touring the UK, will also be unveiled at this event.
There are lots of resources that you can order or download from the website for all kinds of events and displays in your school, university, workplace, community or place of worship, to help you spread the Fairtrade message. You can ask your local supermarkets and shops, catering outlets and retailers to 'Stock it!' by handing in postcards when you can't find the products you want.
